Turkey Meatloaf

My family loves turkey meatloaf so much, I have created so many meatloaf recipes on my site. If you like meatloaf as much as I do, you might also enjoy this Cheese Stuffed Turkey Meatloaf or this Bacon Topped BBQ Turkey Meatloaf. Serve it with garlic mashed potatoes or loaded cauliflower mash and a vegetable on the side and dinner is done!

How To Make Turkey Meatloaf

My mom always made meatloaf with beef when I was growing up, and I always loved it. But once I tried it with turkey, I never looked back. Not only is it leaner, I also find the meatloaf juicier and my family now prefers it, it’s on constant rotation. Here are a few tips and variations for perfectly juicy and flavorful meatloaf every time!

What temperature should meatloaf be cooked to?

Meatloaf is best baked at 350 degrees F in a conventional oven, although I have also increased the temp to 400 degrees F to cook faster. You will know it’s ready when it’s cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. using an instant read thermometer.

Meatloaf Tips and Variations:

  • Don’t overwork the meat. Just like making meatballs, if you over work the meat it will become more dense. It’s best to gently mix all the ingredients until just mixed in.
  • Make it faster! If I want to make this quicker, I will make them into four smaller loaves and cook it for about 25 to 30 minutes. You can also make it in cupcake tins like I do in this Cupcake Meatloaf with Mashed Potato Frosting.
  • Add heat! If you want to spice things up you can add some chipotle or sriracha to the ketchup.
  • Use beef. If you prefer beef, swap the turkey for a lean beef around 90% lean.
  • Make it low-carb or grain-free. Swap the breadcrumbs out for equal amounts of almond meal.
  • Make it with oats. Swap the breadcrumbs out for equal amounts of rolled oats.
  • BBQ Sauce. Replace the ketchup glaze with BBQ sauce to give it a smokey flavor.
  • Make it juicier. I often use 93% lean for a juicier turkey meatloaf.
  • Make it for Meal Prep! Double the recipe, make two and freeze one for another night.
  • Leftovers. Leftovers are great for sandwiches. Refrigerate 3 to 4 days.

Can You Freeze Meatloaf?

Yes, meatloaf is great for freezing. I usually make two, one for dinner and one to freeze for another night. It takes about the same time to make 2 as it does to make 1. To freeze, let it cool, then slice the loaf. Transfer to freezer safe containers and freeze up to 3 months. To reheat, thaw in the refrigerator the night before, then microwave in 30 second increments until heated through.

  1. This is my second time making it in a week and it’s a family favorite (which says a lot with young kids who are super picky eaters!). Easy to prepare and tastes awesome. We have an egg allergy in the family, so we use applesauce instead of the egg and you’d never know it. Thank you for sharing this recipe! 🙂

  2. My family and I loved this easy turkey meatloaf recipe. I used 2 lbs of ground turkey because I have teenagers, but only slightly increased the breadcrumb, added another egg and a little extra ketchup. It was delicious! We enjoyed with a mayo-free coleslaw and roasted potatoes.

  3. My family and I loved this easy turkey meatloaf recipe. I used 2 lbs of ground turkey because I have teenagers but only slightly increased the breadcrumb, added another egg and a little extra ketchup. It was delicious! We enjoyed with a mayo-free coleslaw /‘d roasted potatoes.

  4. Loved this – made exactly as written (slightly larger measurements to accommodate 26 oz package of turkey). Flavorful, moist, super easy. Was done in 55 min.
I absolutely love your recipes, you are likely on my dinner table every night! Thanks Gina!

  5. This has been my go to meatloaf since it was first posted. So fast and easy to put together, plus is delicious

  6. Made this tonight after searching for recipes for ground turkey. OMG! It’s delicious! I like it better than beef meatloaf—a new “family favorite”.

  7. This is the first turkey meat loaf that I’ve made and it was delicious. I will be making this again.

  8. I did this recipe with Bison tonight and it was a huge hit with my husband and kids. My husband grew up eating meatloaf a lot and he said this was the best. It had to be cooked less time bc it’s red meat vs Turkey. Next time, I will definitely double the recipe. There are no leftovers. 😂

  9. I have made this for dinner this week. It was so easy and so delicious! I used dried thyme instead of marjoram. I was sad that I didn’t double the recipe as suggested so I would have it ready for another meal in the future. Thank you!

  10. Tasted good. only issue was the instructions say to mix 2 tbsp ketchup with Worcestershire sauce but doesn’t say when to add to recipe. I just mixing it into the meat loaf with the other 1/4 cup ketchup and used garlic powder instead of marjoram.

  11. This is the easiest, best meatloaf, we love it. My husband loves making sandwiches the next day for lunch!

  12. A family staple. I have made this hundreds of times because my family requests it all the time and fights for leftovers! It was the first dish my picky daughter loved and it is still her favorite years later! Thank you Gina for doing such good work. Praying for continued blessings!

  13. Love this!! Have made several times as written except use regular Italian breadcrumbs. We love it for dinner and makes great sandwiches for lunch!

Question before I make this, in your ingredients listed, you call for 1/2 c whole wheat breadcrumbs but say you prefer 4 C. What do you mean? Please clarify,
    Thanks

  15. This is delicious!! And so easy to make. I’ve made this for my family numerous times. Can switch it up with ground turkey or ground beef.

We make this recipe weekly!! I have two picky teenagers and a husband who loves red meat. It’s something we all agree on! Flavorful, not too tough or mushy, and soooo easy. I Can have this in the oven in 15 minutes with minimum prep. Also I use a hormone free 93% turkey and it’s delicious!

  17. Excellent recipe and suggestions. It was easy to follow and my meatloaf is delicious on the first try.

  18. Made this many times. I grate all my veggies (onion, garlic, mushrooms, etc) into a bowl then add ground Turkey. Add rolled oats eggs worchshire sauce ketchup oregano salt and pepper. Mix a bit then put in loaf pan. Cover with the ketchup mixture! Very yummy! Whatever veggies I have in fridge I grate in…broccoli, cauliflower, celery, etc. Cook as directed!

  19. This is my favorite meatloaf recipe it’s very close to my moms and grandma’s they always used ketchup and Worcestershire ♥️ thank you

  20. I love this recipe. It’s delicious and easy to make. I make 3 batches at a time, cut each bake into 8 slices n freeze.
At the same time I’ll make the potato skin appetizer and mashed potatoes from that recipe.
    Meatloaf n mashed potatoes.
Calorie friendly, delicious and very satisfying.

  21. I made this tonight and it was delicious! I followed the recipe exactly and baked it in 4 small loaf pans for 23 minutes. I will definitely make it again!

Do you happen to know if using ground turkey breast vs ground turkey makes a difference?

  23. This is a great recipe. The meatloaf is easy to put together, and the resulting loaf is full of flavor. Additionally, the ingredients are readily available . This will be my go to recipe.

  24. I’ve made this recipe now probably over 50 times and it’s delicious. For those complaining about theirs coming out dry, pay attention to the weight of the turkey meat you’re using, my guess is that you’re just overcooking it. At my local grocery store they typically weigh 1.25 Ibs and I cook it for 45 minutes and it comes out perfect. I also check with a food thermometer once it comes out just to be safe. Love this recipe and will make it again tonight!

  25. Does anyone know how to cook this in a round 8 in pan? I can’t find my meatloaf pan! Thanks so much!

  26. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I didn’t change a thing except I divided turkey mixture into 4 small pans and baked at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Everyone thought it had flavor and stayed moist without the added fat.

  27. This was so simple to make and we LOVED it! Served with ST garlic mashed potatoes( wow, perfection!) and ST green beans with caramelized onions.

My family uses barbecue sauce rather than ketchup, and it’s a game changer! I also put sauce on the bottom and top of the meat in the pan, after buttering

  29. This recipe is the best! I added 1/2 grated zucchini this time but I’ve made it a few times and it is great every time.

  30. I absolutely love this recipe. I swear it gets better every time I make it. So flavorful and juicy and a guilt-free dinner. This last time I used panko breadcrumbs because it’s all I had and used basil instead of marjoram. Delish!

  31. The aromatics from this are driving my animals and humans crazy! The smell is spit on with how amazing this meatloaf tastes! I modified using quick oats instead of bread crumbs, added minced garlic to the onion, added the ketchup and Worcestershire to the mix. I made this using a mini loaf pans and 8 perfectly proportioned loads of love were delivered after 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven. I topped half with some ketchup and the other half with Primal BBQ sauce. Don’t pass this by this recipe – it’s a keeper.

  32. Turkey Meatloaf

Absolutely love this recipe! It turned out so well! It is so easy and convenient and really a wonderful meal! I think we could enjoy it every week! It will be a regular in our house! Thank you so much!

  33. Absolutely love this meatloaf recipe. My family came over(unexpected)the first time I made it and it was gone quickly. I now double the recipe to make sure it lasts. I also mix in minced garlic with the onions and spread G. Hughes sugar free BBQ sauce original over the top. So good!

  34. Delicious, been making this for awhile. I add minced garlic and green pepper in the pan with the onion to add in the meatloaf.

  35. We are just 2 people where grocery stores only sell ground turkey by the pound pre packaged. Also what can we use besides majorium as we don’t care for it

  36. Make it all the time. I always grate onions garlic mushrooms sometimes peppers into the bowl then add meat egg ketchup and breadcrumbs and oregano salt and pepper. Use the ketchup topping. Always sooo good!! I don’t sauté anything!

  37. I make this recipe often. I use 99% fat free turkey and I am pleasantly surprised at how moist it is. I usually prepare this ahead of time and leave it in the fridge until it’s time to bake. It’s perfect for a busy work week. I have used oregano as a sub for marjoram and both taste great. And you cannot beat that it is so low in WW points!

This was a very easy to follow recipe & was very tasty. I did add extra vegetables (mixed diced bell peppers) to mine & some minced garlic. I will definitely be making this one again. I was kinda scared it was going to be to dry with it being turkey, but it definitely wasn’t dry at all.

  39. I cannot stand ground beef so we were searching for a good ground turkey recipe. My hubby found this one and we absolutely love it. We make it every few weeks, and it’s easy and delicious. Definitely recommend using a tasty organic ketchup. And when we’re out of breadcrumbs, panko is a great substitute.

  40. I have never liked ground beef meatloaf, or any meatloaf for that matter. It’s always dry and bland. My fiancé loves it, so I decided to try this recipe. And WOW I cannot say enough good things. Not only was my fiancé super excited to have meatloaf, I now make this weekly because we both love it so much! Best meatloaf I’ve ever had by far.

I have made meatloaf many times & it’s always good. This time, I was looking for an easier meatloaf recipe & this one fit what I had in my cabinets. I didn’t have any onions, but had some frozen red & green peppers with onion, so I used that. I didn’t have any marjoram either, but had the worcestershire, olive oil, catsup, italian breadcrumbs, salt & pepper. I made it & it was delicious – not the way I usually like meatloaf, but it was so easy to make & great tasting. The great thing about meatloaf is that you can change it up any way you want. I would recommend it!

  42. Have made this recipe many times! We love it and make it instead of ground beef. Family loves it!

  43. Third year making your meatloaf recipe. Definitely a family favorite! My son’s birthday is today and this was his request… meatloaf!!

  44. One of my favorites! Very tasty. Easy to make two at the same time (two big mixing bowls, add ingredients at the same time). I cook both, and like Gina suggests – slice the second one and freeze it sliced. It is so easy to defrost that way. I can defrost a few or all at once. Absolutely in my regular rotation!

  45. Love this meatloaf!!
    So moist and loaded flavor.
    It’s our regular rotation!!
A side of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli.
    Thanks Gina!

  46. Great recipe! Easy to prepared and very tasty. Easy to find and well marked to find amongst many recipes. Thank you.

  47. I made this recipe last night and I was so excited to eat it. However, it turned out overcooked (I cooked it for 60 minutes at 350 degrees) and very dry. I think the amount of breadcrumbs was too much and this was not juicy at all. I will give it one more try but will cook it about 10 minutes less and see what happens.

    1. I’m making it for the 5th time tonight and I use the instant oats instead of breadcrumbs and it’s soooo juicy! I totally suggest trying it that way! 🙂

  48. Perfect every time! Sometimes I add some shredded zucchini or carrot, or sauté mushrooms with the onions to get more veggies into kids. As-is, recipe is our go-to!

  49. I made this meatloaf last night and to my disappointment there were no leftovers. My family loved it. The only change I made was to leave off the top sauce and to serve it with turkey gravy, otherwise I followed the recipe as written. I baked it for 60 minutes and it came out of the oven perfect. The outside was crispy and the inside was moist and flavorful. This really is “The Best Turkey Meatloaf Recipe”.

  50. This is a such a good recipe. I added garlic powder to it to enhance the flavor. My toddler granddaughters love it as well.

  51. This is a real tasty meatloaf recipe. My husband said it was the best I’d ever made. I’ll definitely been making it again!

  52. Delish! I don’t add the marjoram and use 1/4C ketchup and 1/4C bbq sauce (vs. 1/2C ketchup) and adjust the calories accordingly. Depending in my craving situation I have it with 1/4 yam or salad.

  53. I may have reviewed this recipe years ago, but I’m reviewing it again. This is the Skinnytaste recipe I’ve made the most over the years. It’s fairly quick to assemble, and it’s low in points and tastes great! You can add other spices or use other sauces to top it with to mix things up. Thanks Gina!

  54. Thank you SO MUCH! We love this recipe and are so grateful for you and your wonderful recipes! Our only change is that we use ground dark meat turkey. Thank you again!

  55. I have been making this for years. My family loves it and ask for it all the time! Thank you for sharing this with all of us 🙂

  56. Love the ease of how this comes together and it tastes amazing! Will definitely add this to my go-to recipies!

  57. Another easy recipe! Made twice now as per instructions using 1 lb of ground turkey. Served three people in my household. Served with baked sweet potatoes using the air fryer & steamed broccoli with warm French bread. Delicious!

  58. Hi, two questions :
Can you make this ahead of time, like the night before?
Can you put this in a ceramic loaf pan versus metal?

  59. This recipe is so simple but has SO much flavor. I thought it smelled amazing while it was cooking, but it’s even better to taste. I will for sure be making this a staple in my menu.

  60. Love this recipe! I’ve made it three times and it has come out perfectly every time. Pair with mashed potatoes and vegetables and you’ve got an easy weeknight meal.

Great simple recipe, super tasty. I substituted rolled oats for breadcrumbs and oregano for marjoram cause I didn’t have the two called-fors. I added bacon bits cause I like ’em! Thanks a ton for this recipe as we are trying to cut back on beef where possible and tolerable!

Made this yesterday and it fell apart, couldn’t get it sliced. It was delicious, but don’t know what I did wrong. I used oats, not breadcrumbs. Is this why?

  63. This was OUTSTANDING!  I followed it to the letter and this is the best tasting and most moist meatloaf I’ve ever made!  Will make this over beef version any day.  Leftovers cold this morning were just as good, if not better.  🙂

  64. Soooooo good!!! For all the celiacs out there this is a winner 🙌🏼. We used gluten free bread crumbs and added a gluten free gravy too. it was yummy. There were no left overs for 3 adults. Definitely making this again.

  65. I made this for the first time I don’t know why I got so much juice in the loaf pan! Can someone help please?

  66. This is my go to meatloaf recipe and made it again last night. My husband and I were remembering the meatloaves we made before Skinnytaste with the 80/20 ground beef and all the grease pooling up as it is finished baking. We could never go back to that. Just got back from a cruise and have to take off some pounds, so back to a low carb diet. Swapped out ground pork rinds for the breadcrumbs and my husband has no idea I did it!

  67. I made this with two pounds of ground turkey, and added some Italian seasoning to plain bread crumbs, leaving all the other ingredients the same as the original recipe. Cooked it for one hour. Used a meat thermometer to make sure it was done. It was perfect, moist, and the Worcestershire/ketchup topping was caramelized and delicious.
This is my new turkey meatloaf recipe. Tossing all the other ones.

  68. Is it okay to add one cup of finely chopped mushrooms? If so, should they be sauteed first? Also, is it possible to add rolled oats instead of seasoned bread crumbs? I’m not too thrilled with the additives in the 4C. Thanks!

  69. This was great. I used 1 pound 93% ff ground turkey but did not change the amounts of the other ingredients. I used plain bread crumbs so I added some Italian seasoning to zest it up a bit. I realized as I was putting the meatloaf into the oven that I accidentally forgot to add the ketchup to the meat mixture. However, I did make the sauce and topped the meatloaf with it before baking. I made 4 small loaves with the mixture for purposes of meal prep for myself this week. It came out so good. I will definitely be making this again!

  70. I have a hard time finding a 1.3lb package of ground turkey. There’s only one brand that has that size, but I don’t like it. Would you be able to please send me the recipe adjusted to a 1 lb package of ground turkey?

  71. Delicious yet so easy! My package was only 1 lb of ground turkey but followed the recipe as stated for 1.3 lbs and it turned out great 🙂

  72. I’ve made this recipe so many times over the past 2 years, my husband and I both love it! I use extra lean 96/4 ground beef and Heinz no sugar added Ketchup. Other than those 2 adjustments, I follow the recipe exactly. Pair it with baby Dutch potatoes roasted in the air fryer, you have a delicious, hearty meal.

  73. Simple, easy, delicious recipe! Next time I’ll make two and freeze one. My only changes: 85% turkey, Italian seasoning instead of marjoram, added finely chopped mushrooms and one clove of garlic in with the onions.
Thank you for sharing this keeper!

  74. So delicious. Used higher fat turkey because that’s what we had. Mixed barbecue sauce and ketchup and added a bit of sriracha. Didn’t have marjoram, but used garlic powder, Italian herbs blend, and cumin instead. Will absolutely make again – going to make two next time and freeze one.

  75. I used to only make beef meatloaf since we like the rich flavor. Well, once I tried this recipe, we are going with turkey! This meatloaf is moist and flavorful, no need to change a thing, I always make as instructed!

You want it juicier??!! I used 1lb 93% and 1il of 85% (Jenny o’s)! Yep!!
-Toasted the Panko crumbs, and added some toasted fennel seed to the crumbs.
-Sauted onion, carrots, red bell pepper, garlic (2), and a small fennel bulb. Deglacied’ the pan w/ Pernod. Then set aside to cool before mixing w/ meat.
-Catsup topping is Trader Joes Truffle Catsup.
-topped that w/ the rest of the toasted Pankos.

    Boy HOWDEE!!

  77. This was delicious! I used a tablespoon of Italian seasoning instead of marjoram and I did not sautee the onions just put them in the mix raw. I also added a tablespoon of sriracha into the sauce so it had a nice kick! Made 3 smaller loaves and it cooked for 30 minutes at 400 degrees to a perfect 160 degrees. It was so juicy and tender! Thanks!

  78. This is soooooo good! Meatloaf is one of my favorites but I never thought ground Turkey meatloaf could taste so good! I will definitely be making this again!

  79. Used 1# of 93%. 1/3 cup panko, sautéed small amount of chopped onion and red bell pepper,
Italian seasoning, a few shakes of worcestershire
and sugar free hickory BBQ sauce. Baked for 30-35 minutes. 160 degrees. Tasty, 2 of us ate almost all of it.

  80. Total win! I was out of ketchup the first time I made it, so I made ketchup from scratch, and it was so amazing that now I make it no other way.

  81. Made this on Sunday. Put the ketchup and worcheshire sauce mixture into the meat mixture. Added 15 minutes to baking time. Also cubed russet potatoes. Placed potatoes around meat. Sprinled potatoes with salt and pepper. Delicious

  82. I’ve been using this recipe for years (probably almost 10!) I only make meatloaf a few times a year, but this is the only recipe I use. I prefer it to beef, and so does my husband. Great classic comfort dish!

  83. The FLAVOR is amazing. Tried this recipe then bought all your cookbooks! Every recipe is a hit in this house. Currently making this and might add some mushrooms and a little bit of cheddar. Serving with roasted sprouts and mashed cauliflower!

This recipe has become a staple in my house, I make it once a week it’s just so easy and so good.

  85. This was tasty. I used 85% turkey cause that’s what was on sale. I also sauteed some chopped garlic with the onion and used bbq sauce in the mix but used ketchup for the topping. Highly recommend not skipping the topping though I didn’t add it until 30 minutes into the cooking time as I didn’t want it to burn. I would make this again.

  86. I think I’ve reviewed this before but because I have made it again for the 20 something time I thought I would write another one.
I sauté diced onions and shredded carrots, I double the ingredientes and I cook in glass loaf pan for 70 minutes at 350f. Sooo good and not dry. I serve with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted carrots or asparagus.
    Definitely recommend 😋

  87. Over the years I would occasionally try and make a meatloaf and my family never liked it no matter what recipe I tried. I stumbled upon this recipe because I bought ground turkey from Costco. This is a keeper! So delicious so moist and I can’t believe it’s a skinny recipe! I only made one small change and that was to use whole onion instead of half. Tonight I topped it with a mixture of regular catsup and Ray’s barbecue sauce. It’s not out of the oven yet but I’m looking forward to it and thank you for this amazing recipe.

  88. Very 1st skinny taste recipe I’ve tried and it’s delicious. I added some yellow pepper with the onions and on top added ground black pepper, garlic powder, and a little seasoning sauce. I also added to the sauce on top a very little brown sugar. Definitely adding to my rotation for only 3 points blue WW.

  89. Deeelicious! I made a couple substitutions to use what I had on hand: replaced marjoram w/ half the amount of oregano and used two small slices of sourdough in lieu of bread crumbs, then used seasoned salt in place of kosher salt and doubled it to make up for the seasoning in the breadcrumbs. I made four small loaves and they were done in 30 minutes.

  90. This was so tasty! My whole family loved it, made it as written except for the marjoram (just left that out). Will definitely be going into regular rotation, thank you!

  91. This was delicious; I made some substitutions as needed; thyme instead of marjoram, included garlic along with the onions also added some dijon mustard and a little hot sauce. I used crushed saltines instead of bread crumbs and added fresh parsley. So good.

  92. This was great. I used it as my guide knowing I only had a few of the prooer ingredients. Even with my substitutions (jiffy corn bread mix), omissions (marjorim) and mistakes (2 eggs and ALL the ketchup in the mix) it turned out pretty good.

  93. Added chopped mushrooms with the onion like another person suggested and it was delicious! Also used 93% lean ground turkey and panko breadcrumbs because it is what we had on hand. Worked great.

  94. I LOVE this recipe and was hoping to make it with mini-loaf pans. If you made this into mini-loaves, what would you recommend for the cooking time? Thanks in advance!

    1. You can look at the directions on this recipe https://www.skinnytaste.com/bacon-topped-petite-turkey-meatloaf/ 🙂

  95. Wondering if you can leave out or sub Worcestershire? My son is allergic to fish. I believe it has anchovies. Thoughts?

  96. How can I adjust this recipe so that I can use a 1 lb package of turkey, instead of using 1.3 lb? How much of the other ingredients would I use?

I’ve used this recipe for a while before realizing I had a 1lb package instead of 1.3, so I’ve never made any adjustments. Always comes out delicious!

It really is moist. Will use this recipe again and again. I may also try this meatloaf with beef.

  98. I was so nervous mine would come out dry but it was so moist!!!    I love it and so simple!  Happy Dance!

  99. Thanks for this recipe! I made it tonight and it was very juicy and delicious! I haven’t cooked the onions before mixing into the meatloaf, and mixing in ketchup was also something different!

  100. I doubled this recipe and used one package regular ground turkey and one package ground turkey sausage. I had to sub jarred spaghetti sauce for the ketchup because I ran out of ketchup! I topped it with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce (again, because of my ketchup shortage! LOL). I cooked it in a loaf pan and it took about 70 min at 375 degrees. This was delicious!

  101. I am a seasoned cook and have been making beef meatloaf for years. New to turkey meatloaf. This was delicious. Followed recipe as written. This is definitely a keeper.

I made this recipe but made a couple of changes.  Used  .99% fat free instead of .93%
Added 1 whole small zucchini grated
2 eggs instead of 1 to make up for fat
    1/2 cup panic bread crumbs
    shakes of smoked paprika
    2 tb brown mustard

To make up for the extra liquid of the zucchini I baked for 1 hour and 5 minutes

    Outstanding.

    1. This looks super good, too bad there’s an ad directly over the ingredients so you can’t see what to use.

  103. This recipe is fantastic – picky kid approved!  I did make the mistake of picking up 93% ground turkey which drastically changes that points value (wahhh), so please be sure you are picking up 99% instead.  It was delicious and a house fan favorite.

  104. I feel silly asking, but after breadcrumbs you note “I like 4C” – surely you do not mean 4 cups? What does the notation mean?

This is my go to turkey meatloaf recipe.  I’ve made it half a dozen times and it’s really great. I’m on Weight Watchers so it’s even better at 3 smart points.

  106. I love this meatloaf and am in the process of making a larger batch by 1/2 to make three loaves. The turkey I am using has never been frozen. I would like to freeze the other two loaves before cooking. What do you think?

      1. I use 2 1/2 lbs of meat and double the rest of the ingredients to make two loafs. Then they get sliced and laid out on a parchment lined baking sheet and put into the freezer. Once they are frozen I put two slices in a foodsaver bag and seal them then right back into the freezer to be thawed when needed and eaten later.

  107. I made this tonight for dinner along with the green beans and garlic in oil, and the cauliflower mash with garlic, as suggested in one of the recent meal plans. What a delicious meal! The flavour was amazing, everything was perfect! I accidentally added extra Worcestershire sauce with the ketchup that went into the meat, but it was fine, perhaps added to the flavour! Anyway, there was definitely plenty of food, we have leftovers of everything for another meal this week.  A hit for sure. Thanks Gina, another great, healthy meal in the rotation!

  108. This is an awesome recipe! I add a handful of shredded carrots into the mix also (just for a little more bulk and moisture).

Loved it! My husband doesn’t even like meatloaf but he liked this one. I used the BBQ sauce instead of ketchup and it was nice and smoky. I also used minced 1/4 tsp minced garlic instead of onion (still prepared in skillet as recommended with oil). Delicious! Thank you.

This is super helpful because I have a 9 year old that gets freaked out by the onions. Sigh.

      1. You can also use onion powder in place of onions- tastes delicious and your child won’t know it’s in there!

  110. I have made this before and it has been a hit!  Can I prep the loaves (I make 2 at a time-1 to freeze) and put them in the oven later (keeping them in the fridge) or should they be baked immediately?

      1. I prep mine early in the morning! Still tasted delicious — I do not baste them with sauce until popping in the oven

  111. Best meatloaf ever. I didn’t even like meatloaf until this. I’ve made this so many times.

I’m going to be doubling it and cooking 2 loafs tonight.  Does anyone know if I have to adjust the cooking time?

  112. I am a horrible cook but these turned out AMAZING. New favorite dinner recipe. I’m a busy student and was able to prep this super easily tonight. I used 93% lean ground turkey (1 pound), Trader Joe’s panko, and added some sautéed mushrooms and garlic to the onions. I shaped it into 4 little loaves on a pan and used about the same cook time. Ended up nice and moist.  Served with broccoli on the side.

  113. So my husband came home from the hospital today, recovering from covid and all he wanted was meatloaf. I tried this recipe and we will never try another. Absolutely delicious & super moist!

    1. Hope your husband is fully recovered from Covid.
Making this recipe first time tonight … cannot wait

I think using 99% fat free makes it too dry. I use a combo of 99% and 93% and that helps considerably, but could still use a little more moisture. Delicious taste though and a nice low-cal alternatively for meatloaf. My husband loves it and is happy to have this as a substitute.

  115. I added mushrooms, garlic, peppers to the onion sautee. I kept a vent in the top of the meatloaf and twice drained liquid from the meatloaf. It tastes amazing. Perfect with sourdough bread.

I just finished making this, for the first time & it was delicious.  I used 93% because that’s all that was available. My hubby loved it.  Thank you!

  117. This is a go-to recipe for me, I’ve already made it about a dozen times. I do add about 170g of finely chopped mushroom and cook them with the onions first. I also use Italian seasoning instead of marjoram since I never have that in my pantry. It’s so moist and one of my boyfriend’s favorite dinners. I usually pair it with mashed cauliflower and broccoli on the side!

I didn’t realize turkey came with different percentages of fat like beef. Gah! Anyway I have 85% ground turkey. Will it work for this recipe?

  119. I hated this meatloaf! I can only be mad at myself, I had no idea I’d hate marjoram but God do I ever. I suppose it’s probably good in a soup or maybe a stew but in meatloaf… yuck! I also thought the recipe is too salty, I’m trying to salvage it because I hate wasting the ingredients. I’ll try it again minus the marjoram, I think it’s an okay basic recioe without it…

  120. Very good! Left out the marjoram because we didn’t have any and baked in cupcake tin to reduce baking time (took 25 mins) and it’s a winner! Will make again. Thanks, Gina!

  121. I made this tonight for my family and everyone loved it…even my 4 year old and 8 month old. I added a bit of mustard and brown sugar to the sauce but didn’t change any other ingredients. So yummy.

  122. We don’t eat a lot of turkey meals here in Australia but I found 100% turkey breast mince and made this turkey loaf in the airfryer.. It was delicious.

  123. This is my family’s all time favorite meatloaf! But I add carrots to the onions and add some fresh spinach. Makes. HUGE difference!

  124. This is my throw-down meatloaf recipe. It is SO easy and I frequently have all ingredients on hand all the time.

I do make some customizations: I add sriracha to the meat mixture and sauce for some zing. Sometimes I do half 93% and half 99% lean turkey. I don’t always have marjoram on hand, and lately I’ve been using a salt-free seasoning blend from Trader Joe’s called 21 Seasoning Salute – it’s awesome!

Thanks for a great and healthy recipe, Gina.

This is the best meatloaf I have ever had. That is saying a lot because I used to hate meatloaf. This is the only one I am going to make from now on. Fantastic recipe!

  126. I followed the recipe to a T but added a clove of garlic and a half teaspoon of cinnamon and it was a huge hit with my family of picky eater!

  127. I made this for the first time tonight and everyone liked it. I used a shallot, celery, and bell pepper instead of the half’s an onion. I also added pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasoning to the meat. And I added a bit of gochujang sauce to the glaze. It was moist and much lighter than the meatloaf I grew up eating. This will go on our regular rotation.

    1. I made two, I used 94% lean and baked it for the time suggested, 55 minutes. I turned out perfect. Not dry at all.

  128. I’ve never eaten turkey loaf before and was pleasantly surprised. This was so moist and the flavor was delicious! I will definitely be making this recipe again.

  129. I make this meatloaf all the time. It’s so good! Turkey, chicken or beef, ketchup or leftover tomato sauce, always a delicious moist meatloaf! I didn’t even like meatloaf before this one!

  130. I used 96% lean ground beef… (what I had on hand)
Roughly ground fresh mushrooms wit the onions and added it to the meat.

    came out great!

I added one box of mushrooms, chopped in the food processor and sautéed with the onions.  Delicious and the meatloaf was more moist than previous efforts.

  132. Found this recipe today and made it for supper, it was delicious! I did not have any Worcestershire
    sauce
so I substituted a spoon of deli mustard. Will add this to meal plan, my husband also loved it.
    Thank you!

  133. Made this tonight and it was a hit! I didn’t have enough ketchup, so used canned tomato sauce in the meatloaf itself (had just enough ketchup for the sauce on top). I might mix in some chipotle chili powder next time to add some heat. YUM!

  134. This was really tasty, my husband agreed and he’s pretty picky. Added some diced mushrooms and a little extra bread crumbs to compensate, and used Italian seasoning instead of marjoram. Will definitely make again,

  135. I absolutely love this recipe! I don’t need to tweek it and I think it is my now go to when ever I have ground turkey that needs to be used up! Thank you so much for sharing!

  136. I notice you say 1/2 bread crumbs but say you prefer 4 cups? Lean ground turkey can be really moist. I like the idea of using oats to save on the gluten. Thanks Jenn!

  137. Very good. But why the kosher salt? It was a little too salty. But really really good and not greasy!

  138. I love this recipe I twerk my own spices but my meat loaf is a but too moist. Lol if that’s possible. Would you suggest upping breadcrumbs or oatmeal?

  139. This was amazing! I have not cooked a meatloaf in so many years. I used oats in place of breadcrumbs because of gluten issues. The loaf was moist and tasty. We ate almost the whole thing. I can’t wait to make it again and again and again! Thank you so much.

  140. Can’t wait to try this. Does anyone know why the meat is 1.3 pounds and not just 2 or 1.5 pounds…. I never understood why recipes were like this.   I have 2 pounds defrosted to use up.

  141. I love this recipe! I used to make it with eggs before but I’ve recently removed eggs from my diet. How would I make this egg-free?

    1. Deanna. you can replace egg by combining 1 Tbsp flaxseed meal with 3 Tbsp water for each egg you are replacing. Let it sit for five minutes then add it into your recipe.

  142. I have tried a couple of recipes from this site and this one has to be hands down my favorite. I double the sauce as a personal preference. I used to be a meatloaf hater but I know make this at least once a week. Thank you for sharing and 100 percent recommend !!!

  143. This is one of my favorite recipes!! The only thing I do differently is double the sauce. Sooo good! One of our favorite meals.

I don’t normally leave reviews but I was so pleased at how this turned out. Very moist and tasty. I will definitely make it again. My son didn’t like the onions even though I chopped them very tiny but that’s his deal and he can pick them out if he wants!! Lol!! I used 93% ground turkey.

  145. I love all he recipes but your Weight Watchers points are ALWAYS off. When I put in the nutritional values I get 5 on this recipe, not 3 (blue). Why is that?

    1. The only accurate way to determine any recipe’s SmartPoints® value is to plug the ingredients into the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website (Click on “My Foods,” select “Recipe,” and click “Create a recipe.”)

The SmartPoints® calculator isn’t meant for recipes and will often give you the wrong points (usually higher) because it’s counting 0 points foods such as eggs, chicken, fruits and vegetables. So if you see a recipe with a SmartPoints® value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, that is why.

  146. I’m not a meatloaf fan, but I loved this recipe! Very juicy, flavorful, and I loved the sauce. I actually double iit because it’s so good. Officially part of our regular rotation.

Texture was nice and not dried out. Not a fan of the sauce though. Also needed some more seasoning. It was too bland.

  148. I have made many different meatloafs in my life and this one was, hands down, THE BEST of them all. Made three pounds worth last night. Cooked 1 pound and dived the other two into 4 small loafs and have frozen them without cooking for easy dinners in the weeks to come.

      1. I let it thaw and cooked it the same way. It worked very well and was still delicious 😋

I made this Turkey Meatloaf and I was beyond pleased! I did not have to add anything beyond this recipe. [f course I could not have found out if It was bland as turkey meat can be until cooked anyway, but this is my new turkey meatloaf recipe forever!! Soooo delicious! Thank you, because I for sure over season my own when I make it. So I decided to go online and try someone else’s extremely pleased because for sure I am a foodie who loves to try new ways of cooking different food items.

    1. Hi Peggy! My dad’s allergic to the sardines in worcestershire so I made up a recipe that works really well. Soy sauce + balsamic vinegar + ketchup + garlic powder + onion powder. Usually a 1:1 ratio on soy and balsamic, and ketchup and powders to taste. I like it sweeter so I usually add more ketchup.

      1. I never knew there were anchovies in Worcestershire Sauce! Thanks for the alternative.

  152. I have to admit that this is the BEST tasting meatloaf that I’ve ever had!  It was flavorful and not the least bit dry.  We subbed 1/4 cup tomato sauce for the egg due to food allergies and topped the meatloaf with BBQ but otherwise followed recipe instructions to the letter.   It came out just perfect and yummy!

  153. Made this for the first time. Super easy to make and my family loved it. Next time I will have to double the recipe to have leftovers next time. I pared it with some sweet potatoes, zucchini and broccoli it was a perfect healthy and satisfying meal.

  154. This recipe comes in a hair too dry for me. I like to add some flavor and moistness by adding 1 can of drained Rotel (with Jalapenos if you like a kick). Really adds to the flavor and keeps it from being too dry!

  155. I made this meatloaf and my family loved it. It has a lot of flavor and is very moist. This is a keeper, I prefer this recipe over ground beef recipes.

    Foolproof Meatloaf!

This was delicious! I doubled the recipe, used 1/2 oatmeal and 1/2 breadcrumbs. Also added siracha to the ketchup mixture and used a garlic seasoning mix instead of marjoram. So good! So moist! This will be going in my rotation!

  157. I was very skeptical of this recipe being 100 percent turkey, but it was fantastic and had plenty of moisture and flavor. I tend to double the sauce for kicks and add a bit more spice, but even when made exactly by the book, it is wonderful.
My husband thought I had used half beef!

  158. This is delicious and easy! It is a regular in my weeknight rotations. I double the recipe so I can have leftovers. Thank you for another healthy and tasty recipe.
    Anna

  159. I did not hold much hope for this considering my past experiences with ground turkey. But I was pleasantly surprised. I used 93% turkey. I would not go lower than that. I added a fourth cup of finely chopped fresh parsley and mixed as gently as possible. I baked for fifty minutes and let it rest for fifteen minutes. It was moist and flavorful. Will definitely make again.

  160. In the oven ( again…. I make this a couple of times a month) and it’s always perfect 👌🏼.
Serving it tonight with cauliflower mashed and roasted carrots.

  161. In a small bowl combine 2 tbsp of the ketchup with Worcestershire sauce.

And you never explained what to do with it.

    1. The end of direction #5- Place mixture into a loaf pan or shape into a loaf and place on a baking pan. Spoon sauce on top. Sorry for any confusion!

Ok thx. I didn’t realize that was the topping. I was planning on just using ketchup or bbq sauce but I’ll try that way. Thx for reply,
        👍👍👍

  162. This recipe is so good! I’ve never made meatloaf before, I’ve had it but never made it. So I was a little worried I’d end up with dry meatloaf, but this did not fail!

  163. Both my husband and I enjoyed this, the servings were large, almost too big, and we have 2 servings leftover. Made it exactly as shown and definitely will make it again.

Awesome! Doubled the recipe and made two loaves, used panko breadcrumbs for a different taste!

  165. This is so easy and yummy! It took like 5 min to throw together and it’s delicious. Thank you for this!

  166. This is so good!  I used Italian Seasoning (didn’t have marjoram) which has marjoram in it.  I also went with Sweet Baby Rays Sweet ‘n Spicy bbq sauce…omg, DELISH!!  It didn’t fill my loaf pan (have a 9×5) so I just formed a smaller loaf inside.  Will absolutely make again and double the recipe next time!

  167. This recipe looks delicious, I was wondering which families prefer, making it with ketchup or BBQ sauce? Thanks

  168. I made the turkey meatloaf as written, placed it on a shallow greased metal pan and into my 5.8 qt air fryer it went. Preheated the air fryer in 390 degrees. I spritzed the meatloaf with olive oil and cooked it at 390 for 25 minutes. I spooned the sauce on top and cooked it for 4 minutes more on 400 degrees. Internal temperature should read 165 degrees. It was crispy on the outside and nice and moist on the inside.

  169. This is so easy and so delicious! I follow the recipe exactly. I’ve made it about 6 times, as it has become a family favorite. When there are leftovers, it makes a great weekday lunch. Love this site!

  170. My family loves this meatloaf.  I even fixed it for my young niece and nephew who are rather picky and they had seconds!  I always make it gluten free as we have gluten allergies in our family.  I have fixed it with gluten free oatmeal and breadcrumbs.  It’s delicious either way.

  171. Is this not dairy free? I don’t see it tagged as such but seems like it is to me unless I’m missing something. Thanks!

@lolasmealticket: Egg is not a “Dairy” product per se; which usually indicates milk/milk products originating from animals (cows, sheep, goats).

**BTW.. You can purchase breadcrumbs (I love Jeff Nathan Creations GF Panko Flakes) which do not contain milk/cheese, or even make your own.
        This meatloaf is great!!

  172. Made this last night and it was amazing! My husband was very skeptical as he is not a meatloaf fan but we gobbled this up. So moist and tasty. And so easy.

  173. This meatloaf is outstanding!!! My entire family loved it. This will be a regular for us! Every recipe of yours we have tried has been perfectly delicious! Thank you for sharing.

  174. My family and I love Skinnytaste recipes.  The meatloaf was no exception, receiving two thumbs up and requests for more.   The only alterations were adding a little jalapeño and cooking it in the IP rather than the oven.  Thank you for another great dinner!

    1. Yes!  For me 1hr 15 with 2 loaves at 350 weren’t done yet.  Just stuck them back in for another few min.

    1. Try a flax seed “egg.” You need ground flax seeds and then you add water (the flax seed package usually has instructions for the flax to water ratio).

  175. Oh my god-oh my god, so so delicious!
It’s the first time in my life I have had a yummy, moist meat(ground turkey) loaf! OUTSTANDING, a
    must try!
Thank you for sharing with us!!!

  176. This was so good!! I’ve made many turkey meat loaves over time, but this is definitely a contender for best ever! Very moist & lots of flavor. I followed the recipe exactly and used 93% lean ground turkey.  I also opted to use mini loaf pans.  I baked at 350 for about 22 minutes. Will be making this again and again! Even our picky 5 & 7 year olds enjoyed. Thank you!

  177. I have 85% lean ground turkey will this work? I know it will change point value but trying to utilize what I have in the fridge

  178. This is seriously so good! I have never made meatloaf before and this was amazing! It made about 5 days worth of work lunch meal prep!

  179. I stumbled on your site as I was looking for healthy recipes and this meatloaf is the 3rd recipe I’ve made. Just like the other recipes it’s delicious. I followed the recipe as is, I didn’t have any marjoram so that was omitted, but so yummy!

  180. I made this today because I have to work weekend. I added it with cauliflower rice for 3 meals. Hate to believe you get such big portions. Thank you.

  181. This was absolutely delicious! Who knew that marjoram could add so much!  Loved this and will be making this again and again.

  182. If you are freezing this, do you freeze is raw or cooked? If raw, how long would you cook it when you’re ready to cook?

    1. Wondering if you tried to freeze this raw and cook later? I’d love to have that as an option! Tastes so much better hot from the oven than microwave.

  183. I had some ground turkey to use up and found this recipe. I didn’t’t have any ketchup so I used Heinz chili sauce instead. It turned out fantastic and was so easy. I made it into 4 mini loaves so it would cook more quickly. Definitely making this again.

  184. Just made this and is absolutely delicious!!  However, I put the nutrition facts in the WW freestyle calculator and it come out 5sp per serving, not 3 sp, why is that??  Thanks!!

    1. Hi Carmen! The only accurate way to determine any recipe’s SmartPoints® value is to plug the ingredients into the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website (Click on “My Foods,” select “Recipe,” and click “Create a recipe.”) which does not count fruits and vegetables in recipes in the calculations as they are now 0 points.

The SmartPoints® calculator isn’t meant for recipes and will often give you the wrong points (usually higher) because it’s counting the fruits and vegetables. So if you see a recipe with a SmartPoints® value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, now you know why.

      1. I see! Thank you!!

Made it today in the cupcake pan and is still one of my kids favorite!!! I am sharing this recipe with off my friends!!

  185. This is a great recipe made straight from the printer. We like our meatloaf a bit “saucier” so I doubled the ketchup/worcestershire sauce to put on top. My husband and I are a couple of big guys with hearty appetites; so I appreciated that a serving is one-fourth of the meatloaf.

Okay I cook A LOT. I follow different recipes on the internet A LOT. But I never leave comments ..I had to for this recipe … I’ve made a double batch of this recipe twice in two weeks I love it so much. I’ve tried different meatloaf recipes before and never really liked them. I’m also not a huge fan of ketchup (which is probably why I don’t usually like meatloaf when I make it)… so her note about BBQ sauce instead, was great!
Only changes I made were, I added minced garlic, crushed red pepper, used oats instead of breadcrumbs, used Italian seasoning instead of majorimand used spicy BBQ sauce instead of ketchup.
It’s SOO good! One of my favorite recipes now. Thank you!

Very good and the low calories was great. We were surprised. I did switch out a couple of things but even if I had not, this recipe was good enough to print and make again. I used mire paux which I always have on hand and took out the onions and olive oil. I did add a couple cloves of minced garlic. I will make it again.

Very moist and delicious! I used sugar free ketchup, and did not realize I did not have marjoram and substituted herb de province mixture I had which has marjoram in it.
Used the 4C gluten free breadcrumbs.

Everyone loved it-will be making again.

  189. This is so good. I add mushrooms and diced carrots. I do Have a question do u know how many ounces a serving is? If I cut it into 4 servings they are huge

Would ground beef still taste as great? I made the turkey version and wanted to try it with ground beef too. The turkey version was amazing!

  193. My boyfriend made this for dinner last night. We chose to use bbq sauce as hes not a fan of ketchup. I also suggested that we put in red pepper flakes for a bit of a kick. It was AMAZING!

  194. Made it this morning to bake for dinner….can’t wait.  Made it according to the recipe, except added a teaspoon of minced garlic.

Loved this recipe. I am wondering if it could be cooked in the Instant Pot in the summer months when I am reluctant to turn on my oven.

  197. This was awesome – thank you for sharing!
I made a double batch, used 1/2 home made breadcrumbs and 1/2 rolled oats with 1/2 ketchup and 1/2 BBQ sauce. Amazing flavors!

  198. 5 Sp’s?? The recipe says 3 Freestyle SP’s… I’m totally confused. Please clarify… Also, how many SP’s if you use 93% FF turkey? Thanks😊

    1. If you want to know the SP points for using different turkey put the ingredients into the recipe building in the WW app. It’s not Gina’s job to tell people the point difference in using different ingredients than what she did. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤨🙄

  199. This was absolutely delicious. My family devoured it. I used 93% lean turkey and I assembled the ingredients the night before (I didn’t precook it), which I think added alot to the flavor. The only thing I did differently was I sauteed a very large clove of minced garlic along with the diced onions. I baked mine in an oval casserole dish and let it rest covered with foil for about 10 minutes after cooking. Will definitely make this again!

I’m not a big fan of turkey, so I was a bit hesitant to make this recipe. Oh boy, was I pleasantly surprised. This was delicious. I followed the recipe as written, but used oregano instead of marjoram and added a little garlic powder. My husband loved it too.
I doubled the recipe and am so glad I have enough for dinner tomorrow night. I hope there is some left after that for a nice sandwich.

  201. First time making turkey meatloaf and this was excellent!  I was raised on traditional beef, but I’m needing to watch my cholesterol and overall health.  The nutrition for this recipe is much healthier than my recipe.  I was pleasantly surprised at how moist the 99% lean turkey was and the flavor and texture of entire recipe was great.  This will be my new go to meatloaf recipe.  Thank you!

    1. I would freeze this cooked and sliced, then it’s quicker to reheat in the microwave or oven 350F.

  202. We make our meatloaf, my MIL’s recipe, with Quick Oats, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, S&P, Italian seasoning and raisins. We don’t measure either; just eyeball it. After cooking, we put a little ketchup on.

  203. I just made this last week .  It is very good.   Have made it just as recipe is written and and also with oregano instead of marjoram .  Served with mashed sweet potatoes and cucumber tomato salad .  Really good !  All of skinnytaste recipes are delicious!

  204. Actually made this last week for the first time, followed recipe exactly, and it was just delicious. I had to double check WW points values because I couldn’t believe that it was only 3 points for a quarter. Glad to have found it. Yum.

  205. I use almond flour instead of bread crumbs when I make mine! Not sure if it will substitute equally. But if you are looking for a gluten free version, try almond flour.

  206. I’m not a fan of ground meats but incorporate it because we’re TRYING to eat healthier (dieting) and one can only eat chicken breast for so many days in a row, haha. Turned out amazing!! Hubby even mentioned the meatloaf was good.. I texted him prior to making it saying “turkey meatloaf?” And his response was “…ok lol” with uncertainty. Once it was done & we sat down to eat, we both enjoyed it so much and he repeated after eating that it was really good. It turned out very moist (thank goodness!!). Paired it with your garlic mashed potato recipe and a mix of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Thank you for such a simple, yet delicious recipe. We have two children and spending a lot of time in the kitchen is hard. This dish needed minimal prep and cleanup. Will be making again.

  207. Today is the second time that my wife and I have made this and it’s absolutely delicious. However, we modified it slightly. Instead of ketchup, we substituted (2) Tbsp of mild salsa to mix with the Worchestershire sauce (and we didn’t use the extra 1/4 cup of ketchup or salsa).

The first time we made it, we also added:
    (1) Tbsp of minced garlic to the onion saute
(1/4) cup each of green and red pepper to the turkey mixture
(1/4) cup of diced carrots (I forgot them in today’s batch but, aside from some color that the red pepper already provides – along with the taste – I doubt the carrots bring much to the recipe.

The pepper really brighten the taste and neither the peppers nor the garlic disguise the distinctive aroma of the marjoram.

Try this. I think you and your family will love it. And it makes a terrific sandwich when sliced cold.

    1. Your additions sound great – I’m going to make the same (except no salsa), and will add spinach and mushrooms!

  208. The most tastiest turkey meatloaf I’ve ever made!!! I served this with mashed potatoes and creamy mushroom gravy.

  209. One of the best I have tried ! I wanted to lick the plate. I NEVER share recipes , but sent this one to my Mom, sister and bestie. I added garlic ( we LOVE garlic) shredded carrots and about a cup of fresh cut spinach.
My hubby asked me to make it again very soon.

  210. I made this for the first time tonight and my husband loved it, and so did I. I served it with asparagus that I cooked in the oven .

  211. Turkey meatloaf is a favorite in our house! Growing up in the midwest, meatloaf was a staple, love this spin on it 🙂

  212. I saw this recipe and wanted to try it tonight but I have no bread crumbs, but on the side you have that you use 4 c whole wheat. Whole wheat what and why 4 cups? I think I might just cube up a couple of slices of bread and try that. Thanks and will get back on to let you know how it turned out.

  213. This recipe has been in our family’s dinner rotation forever! Even my five-year-old loves it (and she is super picky 🙂 To speed things up, because I’m usually running late, I roll the mixture into meatballs. I bake at 375 degrees for 10 min, flip them and spoon the sauce on top, then bake for another 5 to 10 min. Perfecto! For all the grain free folks, substituting almond meal or almond flour for the breadcrumbs comes out just as great 😉

Thank you again, Gina! I’ve been meaning to leave you a review. My family loves all your recipes and have been following you for years!

  214. I’m excited to try this!
Has anyone tried doubling the recipe and making it in a 9X11 Pyrex? I don’t have a loaf pan.
Also, would this change baking time?

  215. I have made this 6 times already.  I had to remove the onions and ketchup due to Reflux but it didn’t change the taste, as I substituted 2 teaspoons of whatever I had on hand: Soy Vey Orange sauce, and Sky Valley General Tso sauce…..both with low points.  I added shredded carrots and chopped apple for moisture as it was missing the onions and olive oil mixture. So excited with this recipe. Thanks for posting. I never would have found it if I was not on WW. Sorry I had to ‘rearrange.’ but trying to stay healthy and alive while living with Barretts. 🙂

  216. Thank for this wonderful recipe!

My husband loves spicy food so I replaced 1tbsp of the ketchup in the spread with Sriracha, and a tbsp of ketchup in the mix with Sriracha +added some Korean red pepper flakes into the mix.

Loved it! Will be making this again in the near future!

  217. This meatloaf was AMAZING! My husband and I aren’t really meatloaf lovers and have been eating as healthy as possible. I was looking for recipes with ground turkey and stumbled on this one. This meatloaf was moist and delicious! It had us wanting to lick our plates! We both don’t like the texture of onions so I just subbed onion powder. I would give this 10 stars if I could!

  218. Really like this recipe. I substituted Italian seasoning for Marjoram (which I don’t have) and low sodium tomato sauce for ketchup. I also added about half cup finely diced celery. This is a recipe I will follow again and again.

I have been looking for a turkey meatloaf recipe that my family would like!
Everyone loved this one. Such a great healthy meal to make on a work night!

  221. Does anyone know where to find 99% fat free ground turkey in Canada?  The lowest extra lean grind I can find out of the 3 brands I’ve seen are 93% which adds 14 total points to this recipe.

  222. Yes!! By a ton!! They are smaller and need less cooking time… think cake verses cookies… an entire chicken verses chicken wings…

  223. FYI everyone, I was able to get this down to 2 SP per serving (per the WW recipe builder) by using Heinz No Sugar Added ketchup.

This recipe doesn’t feed my family of 4, they eat it all so fast. How would you double it ?

    1. I double this every time I make it so I can freeze one, and have even quadrupled it. Just double every ingredient and split it into two loaves. No change in the cook time or temp.

  225. This has been my go to meatloaf recipe for years. In fact 99% of the meals Ive been cooking for the last 3 years maybe longer have been from Skinnytaste so thank you Gina! I’ve recently started a new lower carb diet, is there anything I can substitute the breadcrumbs for to decrease the carbs in this recipe?

  226. Okay, the night I made this I really did not like it. But I brought it for lunch the next day and omg, it’s delicious!  So, if you don’t like it, let it chill in the fridge a night and try it again. I’m glad I made a double batch and froze a loaf now! I paired it with the cream of asparagus soup from this site and it’s a great combo!

  227. Made this tonight! So good!! Even the kiddo loved it! I doubled the recipe so I can have leftovers!

  228. This was sooooooo good that I was forced to make it for dinner AFTER making it for lunch … slightly seasoned with basil, oregano, chili powder and added minced mushrooms to the minced onion!! Huge hit, from now on it’s turkey loaf!!

  229. Hello, I never know how much salt to add when a recipe says “salt to taste”. How much salt do people typically add. Thank you

    1. I typically use about a teaspoon for something like this. I’d use more if I were making something bigger, if that makes sense.

  230. Our entire family of five including ours kids 10, 13 and 16, enjoyed this tasty meatloaf! It was easy to prep and I already had all of the ingredients at home. I served it with mushrooms, peppers and broccoli and biscuits.

On the WW app it says 3 freestyle points with the recipe builder…..smells heavenly! Thanks for all of your awesome recipes!

  232. My husband and I love this recipe but was wondering if  this can be made in the instant pot? If so, how?

  233. A winner! I love meatloaf and this one is terrific. I also add either grated zucchini or chopped mushrooms as you do in you burgers and in the stuffed rolled meatloaf. Seasonings are great. I add a bit of Penzey Bavarian dried herbs to this as well. Thank you for such great recipes.

  234. There are excellent idf you use either 85% or 93% fat ground turkey.  99^ is too lean and makes it practically inedible.

Oh man does this sound good! I love adding Worcestershire sauce to the meatloaf topping. I loved reading everyone and appreciate the recipe key. ‘s can’t wait to try this next week..

  240. Really enjoyed this recipe.  I am an unusual person in that I like my turkey dishes, even roast turkey on the drier side, so when someone says, mmmm so moist, I know I won’t like it.  I used white ground turkey meat, did add some red pepper and carrots and my husband and I loved it.  Other than the vegetable additions, I followed exactly as written. I also cooked it a bit higher (375) because I had vegetables cooking that needed 400 degrees, so I averaged it.  It may have turned out less dry if I had cooked it on the recommended 350 degrees.  This will be my go to turkey meatloaf recipe.  Easy and tasty.

  241. Made this turkey meatloaf recipe for dinner tonight because everyone in the house is watching their weight. It is very good! Instead of pairing it with the suggested garlic potatoes I steamed some yellow squash, carrots, and baby spinach. This recipe is a definite keeper! Thank you ?

Fantastic! Was not dry at all and very flavorful. Looking forward to trying many of your recipes!

  245. Hi Gina! Do you have a substitute for the ketchup in this recipe? I cannot eat tomatoes in any form but I know that this is an important element for binding. I would love any feedback or recommendations thank you. Janis

  246. Second time making this recipe. Just love it. I shared with a couple of friends and they love it as well. One friend her husband has her make it once a week.

Thank you for your wonderful recipe’s I have not made one that I did not like.

  247. I was skeptical of this recipe because it’s hard to make 99% lean turkey taste like much of anything, but it was great.  My husband who has thumbs downed several turkey meatloaves I have made really liked this one.

  248. I added frozen chopped spinach and pureed carrots to get more veggies and it was awesome. I’ve made it multiple times since I found it, thank you for the recipe!

    1. I just did this at 370 for 20 mins and my meatloaf was at 85 degrees 🙁 maybe my air fryer is just meant for doing things like fries?? I have the power air fryer xl.

Yummy! Another great recipe. I just made sure to check when cooked with a meat thermometer to be sure I didn’t bake too long and thus would be dry. My anti turkey husband even ate it!

  252. I liked the density of this meatloaf and it makes a generous serving. Very tasty and easy to make. I actually had marjoram!!!

  253. Made this meatloaf last night.  I substituted the onion and used shallot instead.  Love it and will continue to make this recipe again,

  254. I made this meatloaf for dinner last night. Even my picky eater husband liked it. I added shredded carrot to the onions for a bit more vegetable.

I would definitely make this recipe again.

  255. This recipe is awesome! I have made it many times and it comes out perfect every time. I even made it into meatballs for a holiday appetizer and everyone loved them. This recipe is a keeper.

  256. Made this for dinner tonight and my husband and I both found it to be delicious. Served with garlic mashed potatoes.

  257. Made this for dinner 3 days ago. Fantastic flavor & husband approved. Just made another one just to freeze so it’s ready to grab & go on those busy days.

  258. Good morning!  I absolutely LOVE all of your recipes and have started adding 2-3 new ones each week to my  dinner schedule!  Thank you!!  So i have not switched to the Freestyle yet and wanted to see if the SP points were still accurate for the older Smart Points program.  For instance, i will be making the Turkey Meatloaf this week which is listed as 3 SP per serving.  Is that with the Freestyle or still the regular SP program?  Hope this is making sense!! Just want to make sure i am calculating everything correctly!!  Thanks again and congrats on the Cooking Light!!

  259. I was really hoping this would come out to a 5SP dinner,
Unfortuantly when plugging everything into the calculator, it comes to 10SP per serving. I use shadybrooks ground turkey. But even when I put 99% turkey it only makes it 9SP.
    🙁

  261. Gina I made this in the instant pot last night and it turned out so great and moist! In the past whenever I baked a meatloaf in the oven. it inevitably became too dry so Im never going back !

To do this I filled the pot with about a cup of water, placed the rack in it, and placed the meatloaf on parchment paper/foil and lowered that onto the rack. 35 mins manual high pressure, quick release. Perfection!

  262. It must drive you crazy when you give all of these great recipes to us for free and people still want to change it, question you and want a million substitutions!!

Do you have a suggestion for an egg subsitute? My kids have egg allergies but I’d love to try this recpe. Eggs are also listed in seasoned bread crumbs as well. Thanks in advance.

    1. Use plain breasdcrumbs, and while I have not tried it, I have heard that the liquid in the can of garbanzo beans can be used as an egg substitute. (aka Aquafaba)

I added some sautéed mushrooms & spinach to the onions for veggie bulk and reduced sugar ketchup with 93% turkey.  Points stayed the same & flavor was great..  Thanks for the ideas in your recipes:)

  268. If I wanted to leave out the onions – would that make a difference in flavor? If so do you have a suggestion for a replacement? Thank you.

  269. Made this for lunch today – and even my kiddo ate it. Substituted red pepper for the onion and it turned out great. Awesome recipe – thanks!

  270. Hi Gina!
Digging through the archives to find something delicious to make for dinner tonight- wanted to make this along with one of your baked fries recipes (either sweet potato or regular)- but with limited oven space. I was wondering if you think I could cook this at a higher temp for a shorter time- to accommodate for the 450 temp for fries?
Would it dry out the loaf?

    1. My guess is it would be ok, but without testing i can’t tell you 100%. You can leave it slightly less time.

  271. I love this meatloaf! I’ve been making it along with lots of your other recipes for my family ever since I discovered your website years ago! So easy and healthy.  Since our baby and toddler are also eating it, I’d like to make 2 loaves at a time…question, will this change the cook time? Thanks!!

Do you know the sugar nutritional info? The new WW program now calculates these to get the point value.
    Calories:
    Saturated fat:
    Sugar:
    Protein:
The points may still work out the same as you have above.

    1. I’ve already done the smart points using WW recipe builder, the only accurate way to calculate Smart Points as they exclude the vegetables which or now 0, all points are below the recipe.

  274. Hi. Hoping to make this tonight but don’t have marjoram. Is there another herb you would recommend using as a substitute?

      1. It states on the bottle of McCormick’s Marjoram that it is a milder member of the oregano family.

  275. I make this recipe and added a cup and 1/2 of grated zucchini and the smart point went down a lot. I also lowered to 2tbs of bread crumbs and one egg white. It tastes delicious because I used this recipe as a base. 8 servings for 2 smart points a piece.

Gina, when I ran the recipe through the recipe builder it came out at 9 Smartpoints per serving, 4 servings. Everyone I know absolutely loves this recipe (and especially me) so I will continue to make it, but that’s a huge points difference. Can you clarify? Thanks!

So if you see a recipe with a SmartPoints® value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, that is why.

      1. Avatar photo

That’s exactly what I did, entered the recipe into the recipe builder, not the calculator. It came out 9 SmartPoints per serving. You state that it’s 5. I don’t know which number to trust and there’s a big discrepancy between yours and theirs.

      2. Ok email me a snapshot of your recipe from recipe builder and I am happy to go over it with you.

      3. I put this in the recipe builder and changed the turkey to 99% fat free and got it down to 6 SP… maybe that’s where the discrepancy is?

        I’m excited to try it!

      4. To clarify – I had initially entered 97% fat free turkey. With 99% fat free it’s 6 SP according to my calcluator…

I was skeptical of turkey meatloaf in general because I’ve never enjoyed it in the past. I have to say this recipe is absolutely delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, wonderfully moist and flavorful. New favorite

  280. I have always used oatmeal in place of breadcrumbs. Would it be OK to use them in this recipe also? It adds such a nice texture & a think it is healthier.

  281. this was amazing! So moist and flavorful! Made it this past weekend for 4 adults and everyone loved it. I added additional onions, and mushrooms (chopped finely in food processor) for additional flavor and moistness! It was delicious and will definitely be making it again in the near future!

  282. Serving size says 1/4 – do you have an ounce or gram equivalent instead as this is easier to actually measure?

  283. Made this dish today.  So delicious.  Followed it exactly,  with the exception I doubled it.  Served it with the garlic mashed potatoes.  Another fabulous skinnytaste recipe!

These are required nutrition facts for the SP calculation. Can you confirm?

  286. Great recipe! The best thing is that this recipe comes up on MyFitnessPal with everything worked out. It was easy to make, great to eat and easy to count on my daily calorie app!!!! Thank you Gina!!!!!

  287. I made this yesterday and we really enjoyed it. I didn’t do the garlic mashed potatoes but I’m going to next time. We love mashed potatoes but I usually serve sweet potatoes as I did yesterday. Still my family thought we should really try mashed potatoes next time. I did put 1 tablespoon of worcestershire sauce in the meatloaf mix (by accident). It was great. Oh, really loved the marjoram.

Anyway, thanks for the great recipe. I love your site.

  288. This may seem like a dumb question but I want to make roasted cauliflower with this but for that the oven needs to be at 450. Should the meatloaf just cook for half the time at 450 or should I leave it at 350 and cook the cauliflower longer?

  289. Wow this was good! The only change I made was sub oregano for marjoram because I didn’t have marjoram. Hubs loved this too, and he’s not a big turkey fan. We both agreed it’s a definite one to make again and again. And the picky kids loved it too.
This is my first time leaving a comment, but I’ve been making your recipes for the past 6 months or so. Not one has let me down!! 290. I love all your recipes, but dislike turkey! I replace all turkey meat with chicken.  Should I change any of this recipe when using chicken? Other wise I’m making chicken meatloaf today.

  293. I have made this recipe lots of times and it is one of our favorites! My mom hates when I make "skinny" recipes because she thinks they are gross but she loves this one! Easy go to dinner.

  294. I love this recipe! Any ideas about how to freeze it, though? I am prepping meals and didn't know if I should freeze then cook, cook then freeze, or none of the above.

I have used Ray's BBQ Sauce; but now I combine both, plus a little Chalula. This is a really easy dish to play with the ingredients.

  297. I love reading and trying your recipes!
Just a quick question, i have just been diagnosed with wheat dependant anaphylaxis.
What alternative could I use for the bread crumbs!

  298. My first time making meatloaf and it was a huge success thanks to this wonderful recipe. The meatloaf was moist, full of flavor (I added a bit of Italian seasoning since my breadcrumbs were plain) and super easy to make. I was impressed by how well it held together (I think using the food processor to mince the onions helped) and the nutrition facts. It's a keeper in our house for sure.

  299. Made this for a quick dinner last night. My girlfriend and I absolutely LOVED it! Moist, flavorful and a little crunchy on the top. Steamed some asparagus on the side. Another winner!

  300. Just wanted to let you know the "print friendly" link for this recipe is NOT print friendly. I hit print and out popped about seven pages worth of comments and no recipe. Just FYI!

  301. Hi Gina. I was just wondering what size pan you used for this 🙂 just want to make sure I get the nutrition the same per slice!

  302. I was hesitant to try a new turkey meatloaf recipe since I already have one that's a family favorite, but makes enough for an army even though I always half the recipe – plus it's labor intensive. Anyway decided to make Gina's recipe last night & oh so glad I did! This was amazing, so tasty and easy to prepare, the family loved it too. I didn't have marjoram so I substituted with a teaspoon of dried oregano. This is definitely my new go-to turkey meatloaf recipe!!

  303. I love your recipes… but I have a problem with whole wheat and white bread… what can I substitute for the bread crumbs?

  304. I've made this recipe several times already. Even my husband says it rivals his mother's meatloaf if you can believe that. I tweaked it a bit: replaced the Worcestershire with A-1 and I added bell peppers to the onions. It might be the A-1 sauce that bribes the husband, but hey – he eats it all up 🙂

  305. I tweaked it a bit. No onion, but I put in a clove of garlic. No marjorum or worcestershire, but I did add a bit of soy sauce, a tiny bit of mustard and basil. I don't know if that sounds strange, but it smells great. It's in the oven as we speak.

  306. I'd love it if you could adapt this recipe for the crock pot? Seems like it would be even easier…

  307. Just made this today during my baby's naptime. I used an adapted recipe from a blog post I read from Andee at The Honeybee. I used oats instead of breadcrumbs and baked it in a muffin tin. It cooked faster because the portions were smaller. My 13-month old daughter, my husband, and I all devoured it! Thank you so much for such a great recipe!

  308. Can you make this without breadcrumbs? As in none at all? I'm trying to reduce my carbs as much as possible. Just wondering if it is possible to make it with all the ingredients leaving out the breadcrumbs.

I have to admit I love meatloaf (beef) but think I might just have to give this a try as it would be much healthier. Pinning it to try! Thanks!

  310. Just made this tonight. It was my first time ever having meatloaf and it is so delicious! Since the serving size is 1/4 loaf I just went ahead and used a mini loaf pan to make 4 personal-sized meatloaves 🙂 I think I want to try subbing the ketchup for bbq sauce next time. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

  311. My whole family loved this meatloaf and it was so easy to prepare. I will be making this a lot! thanks

  312. This is probably the fourth time I have made this. I don't really even like meatloaf and I LOVE THIS!! Thanks for a great and EASY recipe!!

  313. This is such a great dish on a busy weeknight…sometimes I prepare it the night before and throw it in after work! Gina, I make one of your recipes almost nightly. I prepared a whole dinner for family from apps to desserts a few weeks ago, and no one knew they were eating healthier because everything tastes so great! I can't thank you enough for your hard work. You've made it easy for literally thousands of us to eat healthy and feed our families well. I cannot wait to buy your book!

  314. Sooooo good! I was skeptical this would be dry with 99% ff turkey. But it was delicious. I did add some porcini mushrooms to the saute and used thyme instead of marjorum. Also added a splash of unsweetened almond milk . My husband even liked it. As his initial response to meatloaf was 'ill make something else' he ate his words.

  315. I used oats instead of bread crumbs as a few people suggested but I also used salsa instead of ketchup – fewer calories, more nutrients, and less sugar.

  316. Hi Gina!
I want to make this tonight but I don't want to use breadcrumbs. What do you suggest as a substitute? Ålmond, buckwheat or coconut flour?

  317. Love this meatloaf. I want to freeze some so would I cook it & then freeze or can you just put it together, freeze & cook later?

  318. My husband and I love your turkey meatloaf– the only thing we change is to swap BBQ for the katsup, and add diced green bell pepper. I also add oats in addition to breadcrumbs because it helps it bind together better. Thanks Gina!

  319. I'm making this tonight for dinner, my family LOVES turkey meatloaf and I love 1/2 the fat. Another trick is a diced up Mcintosh apple for a bit MORE moistness without the calories.

  320. I prefer BBQ and oats. But really, it's the BBQ sauce that cuts down on the "gamey" tasted of the turkey. I also recently say a recommendation to bake them in muffin cups to regulate serving size- which I 'll do next time! Happy Cooking!

The turkey mini loaves you have on your site uses 1/2 cup of oatmeal. Everything else is exactly the same. Could they be interchanged? Like the oatmeal be used for the big one or bread crumbs used for the petites?

  322. I'm an African American mom and I never thought this would taste sooo good. It was super moist! I doubled the recipe and my children wanted even more of it. I'm loving this website. This will definitely be in my rotation for this winter

Loved this!!! I will never use ground beef in my meatloaf again! Very hard to believe something so yummy is low cal! Thanks for the great recipe!

  324. I made this tonight and it was awesome!
Only change I made was adding a shredded carrot and half of a shredded zucchini to saute with the onions.
Gina – On Weight Watchers and each day I make one of your amazing recipes. Asian Meatballs, Skinny Eggplant Rollatini, Skinny Mac and Cheese (Added cooked chicken and made it a main course)….the list goes on.
Thank you for all your wonderful recipes!!

  325. I make this about twice a month! It's a hit in our household. I like to top with siracha. Or I turned a slice into a burger with english muffin buns…mmmm

I HATE ground turkey – but I decided to give this a try and I'm SO glad I did!!! This is fantastic! It will be a regular meal for us from now on. Thank you!!

So I am trying to cut out most carbs (because im crazy). Do you think this recipe would still hold up with out the bread crumbs?

  328. I made this tonight & it was delish!!!! My kids tore it up!! I didn't bother to tell them it was turkey. I will probably never go back to using ground beef. Very very good. No leftovers!

  329. My life revolves around Skinnytaste now! Whether with the slow cooker or recipes like this, it has made my New Year's resolution of cooking at home way more fun and easy! I haven't given up on the resolution yet and I am only more inclined to cook more and more everyday as the year progresses!

I made this Turkey Meatloaf last night for dinner and it was delicious! My husband was somewhat skeptical about the turkey aspect, but he was happily surprised once he tried it! As always, thanks for your awesome skinny recipes!

  330. Made this last night and it's delicious!! Used Panko breadcrumbs and some extra herbs/spices to make up for the seasoned italian breadcrumbs. Came out super-moist and delicious! So happy that this was my first try at meatloaf because it it amazing.

  331. I wonder if this would work with ground chicken?! I'm living in Japan and turkey is basically impossible to find in any shape or form! It looks delicious though and I'd love to try it!! Thank you 🙂

  332. I made this 3 times already and everybody loves it!! Since we are super busy with two little boys, work etc I usually double or even triple the recipie so I can't go off of the 1/4 of a serving. I was wondering do you know how many kcal does it have per ounce? Or 4oz as a servign size? I would really appreciate an answer 🙂
    Thanks!

  333. Made this last night and added chopped zucchini, green, yellow, and red peppers. I accidentally left out the 1/4c of ketchup but it was still delicious and very moist. Major hit with the hubby!!

  334. Delicious! I made a few changes that did not impact the point value. Instead of a 1/2 cup of bread crumbs I used a 1/2 cup of Quick Oats. I also cooked some onion, celery and carrots (1/2 cup of each, it cooks down to about a cup of vegetables) and I add them to the meatloaf when they're cool. Definitely a keeper!

  335. Very VERY good Meatloaf. I added green peppers, a little bbq sauce, and a ts of crushed red pepper for some kick.

    super moist!

  336. LOVE this meatloaf! It's sooo delicious, dare I say I love it more than my mothers…don't tell her I said that as she makes a mean meatloaf to begin with! This is great to make on a Sunday as it provides me lunch all week. All I do is add some quinoa and a salad/veggie together each day, I'm good to go 🙂

I Love this meatloaf, it is the first turkey meatloaf that I have found that's tasty!
I made a wonderful meatloaf sandwich/panini with the leftovers today, using Trader Joe's Lavash bread, a bit of lowfat cheddar cheese and grilled on my panini press. The sandwich is worth making that meatloaf every week!!
    Thank you so much,
    Paula

  338. Great dinner!! Can't even tell its a healthy dish because there is so much flavor to it! Thanks

  339. I'm thinking this was 1 1/3 pounds of turkey… not 1- 3 pound thing… I hope mine turns out ok, I just split it into two loaves because it was so much… but now I'm realizing I didn't double anything else. Shoot. That was a bone-headed move.

  340. So pleased with how this turned out. I had tried to simply alter my old beef meatloaf into turkey meatloaf, but it was a dismal attempt. This recipe was flavorful and moist. Yay!

  341. This was such a great recipe! last time I made turkey meatloaf it was very dry but this was nice and moist. Thank you!

  342. I was a bit skeptical about trying this as I'm not a fan of ground turkey unless it's drenched in some kind of sauce but after reading all the comments, I decided to give it a try along with your garlic mashed potatoes. One word… WOW! So moist and delicious. The only change I made was omitting the marjoram (didn't have any) and added McCormick Perfect Pinch Salt Free Garlic & Herb Seasoning in it's place. This will definitely be going into my weekly rotation. Thanks Gina!!

  343. Such a great recipe! I made this last night with a few modifications (doubled the amount of onions, threw in some extra spices – red pepper flakes, thyme, garlic salt, and brushed the top with a mix of bbq sauce and ketchup instead of worcestershire sauce). It's really moist and tastes just as good the 2nd day!

  344. I made this recipe last night and I must say it was phenomenal. I've already had three friends ask for this recipe as well. This will definitely be my new go to meatloaf.

  345. Hi Gina! My husband has a major dislike with onions and peppers, any suggestions what I could use in place of onions for this? Thank you

  346. Any ideas about freezing? Should I cook first or freeze uncooked? Any ideas on baking times if made in muffin tins (for single serviings)?

    Thanks!

  347. Mmm!! I made this on Monday night, but added a couple of cloves of garlic to saute with the onions, 2 heaping spoonfuls of nutritional yeast, a few shakes of cayenne, some garlic powder, and cinnamon to the turkey mixture and on a whim, threw in an entire cubed heirloom tomato. It was so good!

  348. This meatloaf was delicious! The sauce for the top tastes EXACTLY like English brown sauce. And my English, meatloaf hating, leftover snob husband asked me if there was enough left for him to have it for dinner tonight! Not only is this an excellent meatloaf recipe, but you've just saved me some serious money no longer having to buy imported brown sauce at the grocery store – now I can make it myself! Thanks Gina!

hi gina, did you update this recipe by any chance? the one i have bookmarked (and pinned to pinterest) had a different picture and i don't remember there being worcestershire sauce, but it links here now. just wondering if there's any other difference i'm missing – thanks!

    1. So, how did you get it to Brown up nicely? This was by far the best meatloaf I've made, but I subbed a cup of fresh breadcrumbs I keep in the freezer and added a little milk. I also use lean instead of extra lean, because I'm feeding three boys.

  350. I made this for dinner tonight and it was really good. I made my own whole wheat bread crumbs, used reduced sugar ketchup, egg whites instead of a whole egg and added a few dashes of Worcestershire. This will defiantly be my go-to meatloaf. It's the only recipe that I've been able to make without drying out. It was delicious.

  351. made this with Lean ground beef, loved it. How many pts would I add for the beef instead of turkey?

  352. Love it, love it, love it. My kids hated meatloaf, until this. I serve it with fresh parmesan green beans.

  353. Gina, my husband first made me this meatloaf years ago. I think I've tried it once or twice since then and am craving it again. Just wanted to add to the chorus of "yum".

Thanks again for sharing your recipes with us. I'm a long-time follower who is so grateful!

  354. Hi all…I made this today but added just a few changes…Instead of 1 egg, I did 2 egg whites…also added some Worchestire sauce and garlic powder….YUMMY! Great recipe Gina….keep'em coming!

  355. I made this for dinner tonight along with your garlic mashed potatoes. My husband loved it! He couldn't fathom how moist and yummy it was. He said that his mother's meatloaf always came out dry and it needed ketchup for moistening. He pulled out ketchup tonight in preparation to use on the meatloaf but never used it! He said it would be an insult to the meatloaf and me since it wasn't even necessary. Thanks Gina for sharing such wonderfully yummy and skinny recipes!

  356. Delicious! Even my skeptical family enjoyed it. My daughter said she liked it better than regular meatloaf! Will definitely make again! Thanks for all of your recipes, Gina!

  357. Made this tonight and wasn't really sure what to expect. I'm not a huge fan of meatloaf, in general, but the reviews were so good and it's stuff I pretty much always have in the house, so I decided to give it a shot, and I am so glad I did! I doubled the recipe and added minced garlic to the onions when I sauteed them. I also added a little worchestire sauce.Other than that, I followed the recipe and free-formed the loaf on a sheet pan and coated it with some ketchup. I was definitely pleasantly surprised by it, as was my husband. And 2 out of 3 of our kids ate it up too, so it is definitely being added to the rotation. Served it with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus….delicious! Thanks Gina!!

  358. I made this for dinner tonight, and it was delicious! I liked it better than the recipe I had been using from a WW cookbook. We couldn't even tell it was turkey. I added some chopped mushrooms I wanted to use up, so that probably added moisture as well. My only question is, how much salt? I am afraid of oversalting, so I used 1/2 teaspoon. That seemed to be enough without making it too salty. I split the mixture into 2 smaller loaf pans and cooked about 40 minutes. This is a keeper!

  359. I just made this for dinner and it was AMAZING! Will be making it again ASAP! My husband loves his mother's meatloaf and liked this one even better! Plus, it's much healthier! 🙂 Thanks Gina!

  360. I made this a couple of weeks ago, and when I asked my boyfriend what he wanted me to make for dinner on Valentine's Day he requested this! 🙂 So I will be making it again soon. I love that you can eat so much of it for so little points. Last time we put ketchup on top but this time I might put some bbq sauce or hot sauce on top. Mmmm!

  361. This was delicious! I started on weight watchers two weeks ago and stumbled upon this blog – and I'm in love with it!! Meatloaf was delicious!

  362. This is about the twentieth recipe I have made from your website and once again… brilliant and delicious! I have made turkey meatloaf a couple other times and have not liked it, but this recipe was great! I topped it with a ketchup and brown sugar glaze… definitely added to the point value, but it was worth it! Thanks again for a great recipe!

  363. This was easy to make and so yummy. I liked it cold on a sandwich too. I'll be making it again soon. Thank you for the recipes. I plan making a few more tomorrow.

  364. Our meatloaf looked a bit odd on top after we took it out of the oven, however I liked the texture, and it was very tasty. Due to the generous portion size, if you are a ketchup person, plan on extra points or you will probably run out!

  365. i added spinach and sun dried tomatoes, it was colorful and delicious, my roommate really enjoyed it.

  366. Hi Gina, I was a little skeptical to make this because it's not the prettiest meatloaf I've ever seen but after my sister recommended it I had to give it a shot. I've got to say that my fiance & I just loved it! This is definitely getting added to our regular rotation. So easy and delicious – the only change I made was to add 1/4 cup of grated parmesano regiano that I needed to use up. Thank you so much for your wonderful recipes!

  367. Hi Gina. I have been on WW for almost a year now. I just found your web site and I am hooked. I'm not that great of a cook, but this is helping. Love your blog. One question on the meatloaf. I have a thing about texture, can I use powdered union instead of the real thing? If so, how much? Thanks!

I'm sure you can shred carrots or any veggies and have the same results. I do this with my turkey burgers and some meatballs. I usually use zucchini. My meatloaf cupcakes have zucchini. Ketchup could be added before you bake it, see my petite meatloaves.

  369. What about adding veggies to the mixture? Like Carrots, celery and peppers? How would you make it stick together better?

When do I put the ketchup on top if I want to add that? (Can you tell I am cooking this now?)

  371. Made this today – was fantastic. I used cooking spray instead of the oil and ketchup with lower sugar so the recipe came out to 5 WW pts for 2 slices. I also added more sauted veggies to the meatloaf (diced bell peppers and carrots) – great way to trick the kids into eating more veggies!

  372. I made this turkey meatloaf last night and it was wonderful! I just had a leftover piece for breakfast and it's so good. I used one egg white instead of a whole egg, and I didn't have marjoram so I used oregano. Delicious!

  373. Hey Gina,

Are two slices equivalent to 6.5 Plus points? I'm new to weight watchers and kinda lost on what I can eat…!

  374. Gina,

I only have a 5×9 inch loaf pan, not a 9×12. Would that still work or should I adjust the baking time or buy the bigger pan?

Thanks. Can't wait to make this tonight!

    -Katie

  375. Gina,

I have made many of your recipes over the years and this was also delicious! I added in spinach and mushrooms as well. BRAVO!

  376. I made this tonight and instead of the marjoram I added Mrs Dash onion and herb salt free seasoning,it was delicious.

I make a similar recipe to this one. I add about 2 TBS of Splenda Brown Sugar on the bottom of the loaf pan, then I add to the turkey mixture 2 cloves garlic, and about 1/2 – 1 tsp of ground ginger! It's amazing!

This looks good. Have you ever tried making meatloaf with oats instead of bread crumbs? I've been using Paual Deen's meatloaf recipe which calls for them. I also love my meatloaf topped with ketchup before baking.

  379. Wow, it looks like you've made another turkey meatloaf convert! It was really moist & delicious.

The only changes I made to your recipe were: I substituted 1T Mrs. Dash for the marjoram, and added 1T garlic-flavored worcestershire. Also I used 93/7% ground turkey, which added 4 p+ to the whole loaf.

Thanks Gina for doing the hard work for us 🙂

  380. Just made this last night. Was very good! I am going to make a play on Philly Cheesesteaks tonight with the left overs 🙂

  381. This was so good. I've always been skeptical of turkey loaves but I'll never go back to beef now. Made it with baked fries and your green beans with garlic and oil! Yum Yum!

  382. Gina. I don't have 99% fat free turkey on hand I only have 85/15% 🙁 do you know what the new point plus value would be?

  383. I have tried many of your recipes since joining weight watchers 2 weeks ago, and have totally loved every single one. I am a big fan of meatloaf. I usually use veal, pork, and beef. I'm going to try this tomorrow night, and I have no doubt I'll love it. A good tip is to grate the onion with a hand grater over the bowl so you get the juice from the onion in there. It helps keep it nice and moist and flavorful. Same thing with garlic cloves too! Thank you for all your fabulous recipes. They're a life saver!

  384. I was skeptical about making this as I thought I didn't like ground turkey. It turned out great and I actually liked this recipe better than the one I usually make with ground beef! I made 4 individual loaves out of it and baked it for about 30 minutes. Even my husband liked it. Thanks for all the great recipes!

  385. I started WW one week ago and found this blog, tonight I made 4th recipe of yours! This was great meatloaf, again my boyfriend who is in shape and not a dieter loved it. SO glad to have found this site with great food, that we both enjoy! My first turkey meatloaf and its my new go to!

4C is a brand that sells whole wheat bread crumbs but if you can't find them, make your own or use regular bread crumbs.

  387. When you say you use 4c whole wheat bread crumbs. What exactly do you mean? I saw this on the recipe I made this week, the chicken parm, I dont have wheat crumbs to I used the 1/4c of reg, but Im curious what 4c is, I cant imagine that its 4 cups. Thank you!

  388. I wonder if this would be good if you substituted the bread crumbs for ground up Fiber One Cereal? I love meatloaf. 🙂 Thanks for the recipe.

  389. Yummy meatloaf! I added some finely chopped red bell pepper for some sweetness. I also substituted 1/2 tsp of thyme for the marjoram. Topped it off with a little bit of ketchup before it went in the oven.

Just recently found this site and love all the recipe ideas!! Thank you so much for having the Points Plus values also! I made this Turkey Meatloaf tonight for dinner and loved it. My husband even liked it! I didn't tell him it was ground turkey until he had eaten 3 slices of it!! Thanks so much for so many great recipes 🙂

  391. I just made this last night(along with the Creamy Grape Dessert) and it was amazing!! The best turkey meatloaf I have ever had. My husband hates ground turkey, but he even liked it. I didn't have marjoram so I added a little dried basil and garlic powder….I also spread a little ketchup on top before baking. Amazing. Thanks Gina!! P.S…it's even great the next day as meatloaf sandwich 🙂

  392. I just recently found your site and I am so glad I did! I made this meatloaf last night and OMG it is awesome! My husband and I are always looking for new WW recipes and this is one of the best that we have found! I served it with the garlic mashed potatoes which were also so good! Thank you so much for all of the great recipes. I look forward to trying many more!

  393. I have never been a fan of Mealoaf, but I absolutely love this recipe. The second time I made it, I added a some garlic, sage, thyme and ground cayenne pepper. Thank you.

  394. Omg!! Wonderful recipe! I added minced garlic and mushrooms. My 7-year-old even ate it! Thank you!!!!

  398. I made this tonight. It was wonderful! My husband loved it. Served with 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes and 1 point single serving size corn. Very filling! Very tasty turkey meatloaf.

  399. I bought some minced turkey to make rissoles. The turkey would not mix like ground beef. What did I do wrong?

  400. This is the BEST! My husband won't get meatloaf out anymore and my one year old eats a whole slice to himself!! We've made it 3 times already. Definately a keeper.

  401. Gina! I see that the serving size is 4 so does that mean you only have 4 slices? If I made 8 slices would the serving size be 2 slices?

  402. Could you do this with oatmeal instead of bread crumbs like the petite version?? Which is healthier? Thanks

  403. this was the best meatloaf ive ever had! thank u so much for awesome recipes u make dieting much easier!
